There’s a special kind of gall reserved for someone who spent years turning government agencies into political battering rams – then resurfaces to wag a finger about government overreach. We’ve all watched the double standards multiply in Washington. But every so often, someone steps forward so utterly blind to their own record that you have to stop and marvel at the sheer nerve.
Former President Barack Obama posted a lengthy statement on social media defending Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., who currently faces two separate federal investigations – one examining potential immigration fraud, the other scrutinizing her financial disclosures. His post, which has now been viewed over five million times, included this:
“It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.”
“Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president.”
