A photographer’s lens captured an unexpected moment in New York City when a black and white dog stopped in front of a giant street portrait of Donald Trump, lifted its leg, and peed directly on his face. What started as an ordinary walk quickly turned into an unusual political scene.
Photographer John Iz happened to be nearby at just the right moment. With his camera ready, he managed to capture the dog’s unexpected behavior in a perfectly timed photograph.
The incident took place near Tompkins Square Park in Manhattan’s East Village, at the corner of Avenue A and East Seventh Street. The location featured large street portraits that had become part of the neighborhood’s political atmosphere.
Artist Jeffrey Reid had displayed two large portraits of presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Both artworks were positioned in public view, but it was Trump’s portrait that unexpectedly attracted the dog’s attention.
The black and white dog was walking on a leash with its owner when it suddenly stopped beside the artwork. Instead of continuing down the street, the animal lifted its leg and began relieving itself directly on Trump’s face.
Meanwhile, the dog’s owner was busy looking at his smartphone. He apparently had no idea what was happening just a few feet away, allowing the unusual moment to unfold while the photographer captured the scene.
After several seconds, the owner finally noticed what his dog was doing. He pulled on the leash and continued walking, leaving behind a moment that had already been captured in a photograph.
Iz later shared the image with the local blog EV Grieve. According to his account, the incident did not appear to have been staged, at least not by the dog’s owner, who seemed completely unaware of the situation until it was already happening.
The photograph transformed an ordinary dog walk into an unusual political moment against the backdrop of a presidential campaign. Whether the animal deliberately chose Trump’s face or simply found a convenient place to mark its territory remains a question nobody will ever be able to answer.
